Workshop on Field Epidemiology Training Program Mentorship to strengthen health system

February marked important mile stone for Sudan_Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP).During 4th to 6th of February the program had trained a roaster of 30 mentors from different states Ministers of health, UNICEF and WHO.
This workshop have contributed to the expansion of a valuable asset for the Sudan FETP . They will support the future cohorts for Sudan FETP program.
The field epidemiology training program fulfills an important training need for the strengthening of the health system surveillance, preparedness and response to epidemics.
The experience of the first batch was met by several challenges including the scarcity of competent staff to supervise residents in remote areas, the governance of the program, with staff turnover, the limited resources and the instability all over the country during the revolution period.

It is worth noting the program provides leadership and management of epidemiological and public health care for the wellbeing of the Sudanese population.
The program aims to train candidates on the principals of epidemiology and biostatistics, their use in identifying public health problems, the design, conduct, analysis of health research to diagnose, control and prevent population health problems.
