Foreign Ministry Discusses UNISFA Activities in Abyei

Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Dafalla Elhag Ali has discussed with the director of the UN East Africa Political Affairs and Peace-building Administration, Graham Maitland all the aspects of UNISFA and the continuous cooperation of the Sudanese government with the UN in the implementation of SOFA agreement.
It was agreed to form the joint mechanisms on the levels of police, administration and legislative council as the ultimate path to deal with the situation in Abyei where the Sudanese government affirmed keenness to cooperate in this regard..
Meanwhile, the UN official affirmed there keeness to implement the mandate of UNISFA and confronting the challenges in the rule of law, seasonal movements of shepherds, instability aspects and the spread of weapons.
He stressed the importance of respecting the previous agreements signed between Sudan and South Sudan, expressing appreciation to the Sudanese government for providing all the facilities.
