UNESCO to Protect Sudanese Heritage

UNESCO agreed to take the necessary measures for urgent protection of the Sudanese cultural heritage, including five Sudanese museums which were affected by ongoing war.
Prominent Sudanese artist and producer, who is at the same time UNESCO Ambassador for Peace, Ali Mahdi said that the UNESCO responded to Sudan’s demand and agreed to implement two intervention projects through its Emergency Fund to protect the Sudanese cultural heritage and providing support to the Sudanese artists.
The urgent procedures aim at inspecting five museums in order to evaluate the damages and complete the technical work of maintenance.
UNESCO will also establish a centre for the artists in Port Sudan to provide opportunities for all related activities.
