Minister of Education Meets UNICEF Regional Director

Acting Minister of Education has held a meeting on Monday with the Regiona lDirector of UNICEF, Mrs. Adal Khidir, in the presence of UNICEF representative in Sudan, Emergency Senior Coordinator in Red Sea State, Osman Abu Fatma, Planning Specialist, Nazin Akhcar, and Senior Executive, Reem Mustafa.
The meeting discussed the situations of Education, the educational institutions, programs, and the proposals for starting the new school year within the existence of shelter centers inside some schools for those who fled Khartoum war, a matter that requires finding alternative satisfactorly centers.
The meeting agreed on starting the new schools year gradually with River Nile as the first State to be followed by the rest of states.
It was also agreed that the schools work two shifts to allow the students who fled Khartoum war receive regular education side by side with their peers in the states.
The UNICEF will participate in providing the teachers who work shifts with incentives.
The meeting emphasized the importance of the governors’ commitments to settle the monthly salaries of the teachers.
